What Have We Been Up Too???

The winter "resting" period is definitely done around here. We have been so busy on numerous projects that I am almost dizzy from all that is going on plus trying to keep up on all of the normal, daily to-do's too.
I mentioned in an earlier post that we were going to be getting chickens this year. We are also planning on putting in a larger garden which involved moving the goats to a different area. We have also planned on having the house painted which has required a lot of work on the siding and trim of the house. More on this later.
Anyhow, we are planning on ordering chicks around the first of May, maybe sooner. We are almost done on the coup. I still need to get the fence up for the "yard areas" and finish a few other things but the hardest part is done.

This is right behind the garage where the chickens are going to go.
The back of the garage had to be re-sided before the coup was started. This was all torn down and new wood put back up in one day.

I didn't manage to get pics during the construction, but here is the coup just about finished.

Obviously it needs some paint and there is lots of clean-up to do. I'm working on that.

This here is where the goats used to be. This is going to be the new garden area. The soil should be good considering that the goats have been in this area for 8yrs. This is directly across from the chicken coup.

Another few of the future garden.

The goats weren't to sure about their new "home" but they are adjusting well. We moved them out front by the road in the north west corner of the property. They are right next to the girl's tree house. This area will be much better for them because it is bigger and has a huge tree that will give them shade during the summer. This pic was taken before we got their bigger shelter up.

Another view of the new pen.

The new, bigger shed in the new, bigger pen.

They are settling in quite nicely now.

Sisco saying "hello". Actually, he was hoping I had something good to eat that I was willing to share.

Isaac.......ummm

Yep.......he has a crooked smile. (the poor guy is missing his other teeth)

The sheds again. My sweetie did a great job on the big shed. Its much better than the last one they had. The little shed was given to me from a friend. Believe it or not, 3 goats can fir in that little one. It takes a little persuasion from the dogs but they will get in there.

Oh, to be a goat.
