Having a Ball

These are definitely not current. I forgot I had these on my camera card. These are not the only ones that I forgot I had-just like everything else, sometimes you've got to go sort and clean.
Anyhow, this is what my horses got to do for a very short time this winter to relieve the boredom of winter time. Engaging the mind of a horse can be very entertaining, however, it lasted for only a short time because the ball got snagged on the fence and now has a hole that might be beyond repair. Needless to say, I was very bummed and so were they.

Riata had the most fun with. She 'chased' it all over the place.

Lena was okay with it as long as I was right there with her and it.

Nina wasn't to fond of it. I think they were waiting for something to jump out from it-bad or good, they weren't sure.

Ironic Choice

The longer I own cats and the more that I own(outdoor life can take its toll on their 9 lives rather quickly), the more I am a believer of the saying, " A cat chooses its owner, the owner doesn't choose the cat."
For Bryan, this saying has become ironic since he doesn't really like cats and our newest addition, Hershey, has decided that Bryan is his owner, his pal, friend for life, servant, warm bed......Maybe its because Hershey is male and feels the need to 'bond' with 'boy', Maybe its just to spite Bryan-this is probably the case when it comes to the 'feline' mind.

He has no problem making himself quite comfy.
Hmmm..so impressed.

Yep! male bonding time! Bryan's domain: the office, the computer. Hershey's domain: Bryan's leg, shoulder, chest.

Doesn't seem to impressed by my presence.

Its probably that Bryan feels 'walked on', like a doormat. I just don't know why.

A "Long" Visitor

Yesterday, while I was outside shaving Bryan's head-this is the skill of my ability to cut hair-learned how to run clippers when working at the vet clinic- this is very comforting to Bryan-LOL, anyhow, I looked out in the grass and from under the porch came a very loooong.....bullsnake. He was hanging out with the dogs and the cat-they acted like this was a daily thing!! Hmmmm..............

The girls were thrilled when I told them what was in the yard, so of course, we had to 'catch' it so that everyone could have a turn holding him. Jessie has been begging me to go out and catch a snake; this worked out great, the snake came to us.

Marisa wasn't quite brave enough to hold the whole snake by herself but was quite content to hold his 'belly'.

We took him outback and let him go in the tree line that is getting invaded by gophers. The meadow out back is flooded again so the gophers are moving to higher ground which happens to be our property. Needless to say, I was quite happy to see the snake and I wished him many gophers in his future.

Spring Life

Spring is definitely here. The weather may say that winter is still here at times, but really that's part of what spring is about; springing from one cold front, to high pressure and then back again. Its a transition period and as most of you know, its quite dramatic in Northern Nevada but don't worry to much because before long we are going to be wanting this cooler weather back-especially when the 100 plus weather gets here. So, enjoy it while it lasts because spring is on its way out.
Below are signs of spring around here;

pasture grass is coming in
the yellow dead is disappearing

the other pasture with its alfalfa is twice this height since I took the picture

The wild rose

The new pasture that we planted north of our house has sprouted.

New little grass

and Hank is busier than ever on chasing the pigeons, fly's, butterflies and what ever else has started to make its presence known.
