Trick Horse Nina

In the past I have posted numerous pictures of the critters around here that are a constant source of 'entertainment' and enjoyment. If you ask Bryan, they are a constant source of irritation and 'draw' on the checkbook, but were not asking him.( I do have to say though that some days i do agree), but you have to take the cons with the pros if your going to have them so lets focus on the pros.

Nina was my first horse. We got her about 11yrs ago. She is now 15 and is the girl's horse-but I still ride her frequently. She's a great horse, great 'horsenality', and I think has a bit of a sense of humor. She takes everything in 'stride;' never seems to get to upset about things.
I have started doing more 'ground' work with the horses-I think it has a lot of benefits for under the saddle later on, plus its fun to do. Anyhow, by doing this I have been able to see/discover some 'horsenality' traits in my horses that I didn't know were there. For example, Nina is part monkey-she loves bananas and loves to climb......on everything that you put in her path, including.........
Ta..Da....big hay bales!!

Walking over just the tarp that was lying on the ground was to boring for her.

Getting up was a lot more graceful then getting down but I do like the fact that she was willing to just take her time and not just 'take a flying leap'. I mean, when your a horse and there is food right below your nose and you really just don't care about whats going on, why not stop to take a bite.

Bottoms Up!!!

#10 and 9

Well, I am starting to feel old and I can definitely say time keeps going by faster and faster. We celebrated Jessie's 10th birthday and Eleise's 9th on the 18th(their birthdays are both on the 16th) with a slumber party. There was a houseful of 'squirrely girls' but they were super-I couldn't of asked for a nicer bunch of girls. They all had a lot of fun playing together. Even though I had 4 extra kids, I hardly noticed them because they played so well. They even were all asleep by 10:30-wow!!

Sara, once again did a super job on the 'Winter Wonderland cake'.
The sugar cube igloo didn't last long-the girl's were on a bit of a sugar high.

About ready for bed. There were 5 sleeping bags on the floor; its amazing that they got any sleep because when I checked on them before I went to bed it looked scary-like a bunch of bodies just laying all over-non of them were they had started. Thankfully, no one woke up with black eyes, fat lips or bloody noses.

Watching Barbie and the Musketeers.

The next morning before they went home, I had them help me get a bunch of cookies frosted-they had a lot of fun, esp. with the 'clean-up'.

Shyla's favorite color was orange-every cookie she did was orange.

Note to self: "one should not disturb an artist hard at work on her masterpiece."
