New Additions

These are our 2 new additions-not that anyone would be surprised. They were found on the train tracks a few weeks ago and of course were brought to me-not that I mind-I love "fostering" abandoned/stray kittens. These 2 were both skinny and had colds in their eyes but with a little TLC( and some eye oint. ) they are now 100% better. When i say better, I mean running through the house after each other, climbing the cat scratching post, chasing fly's and moths and terrorizing my older cat Katie. They eat hard, sleep hard and play hard.

The girls are of course like me when it comes to kitties; oh how cute....can we keep them???
Of course Bryan is not like that at all-we won't talk about his solution to strays but he has adapted quite well over the years to ALL of the kitties that have come home for "fostering" and then never leave. Granted, we don't currently have all of those cats anymore- sadly, its tough on kitties out here.

But they do earn their keep as far as I'm concerned-we don't have a mouse problem like we used to and they have really helped with the gophers.

Yes, I woke them up and well, they were not impressed.

Oh, yes they have names. The greyer one on the left is Gypsy and the other one is Poppy.

Just Buggy

A couple of weeks ago the girls were playing outside in the front lawn when all of a sudden they were yelling for me to come quickly! Realizing that their yells weren't cry's of desperation but excitement, I walked "quickly" to the front door. When I went outside, they were both on their hands and knees on the porch looking very intently at something--a huge, green praying mantis. Needless to say, we caught her and put her in Marisa's bug box. This worked out very cool because we had just started school so it was the perfect opportunity to get them into the learning frame of mind. We kept her for a few days, fed her moths, which is always entertaining, talked about what makes an insect and insect and of course the one question that my girls always want to know about anything, "Is it a boy or a girl?" So I explained to them that this one was a girl: the girls are bigger than the boys and that's about all you'll find this time of year because the girls eat the boys after they have babies-no need to elaborate, not yet anyways(not looking forward to those talks, hmmm.......) Of course then they want to know , "why?" At this point I could come up with many reasons(just joking, well sort of- LOL) but I chose to defer and told them that is the way God made them, just like the black widow spider-speaking of which, I'm being invaded!!!

Like I said we only kept her for a few days and then let her go because she was a good bug that ate lots of bad bugs.
I had to get a few pictures though.

good camouflage.

Their arms are so cool.

Apparently I need to clarify something that Bryan has brought to my attention as I was posting this. I am not implying that it is okay for wives to bite their husbands heads off-I'm sure that the opportunity to do this has presented itself numerous times and some of us I'm sure have snapped -point being , husbands aren't you thankful that God didn't make us like the praying mantis or the black widow?

To the East

Since we started school this past week I have been getting up earlier than the norm-5:45. Its actually quite nice out-I used to get up earlier and why I quite, I don't know. Its so peaceful, quite, refreshing and the sunrises compete with the sunsets. During the summer, its the best time of day to be out; during the winter, well, lets just say its ummmm.......puts a spring in your step?, very fresh?, well, plain and simple, its COLD, but if your dressed for it I find it just as enjoyable. Its fun to see just how fast you can get through the chores and then to come in, and go snuggle up to that warm body that is still in bed--good morning sweetie!!! Okay, its also quite entertaining because the horses know that to warm up you've got to move around and that is just what they do; runnin' buckin, kickin, squealing(yes they are vocal) and snorting.
Well, that enough about the cold; it will be here soon. Can you believe that fall officially starts on the 22nd of this month? Summer has gone by to fast soooo..........I will try to quit here on the "cold" comments and move on.

A morning face ready for her breakfast.....hours ago if you ask her.
I just love the morning glow.

Yep, its just beautiful!
